Maps open faster, and pan and zoom stay smooth on large datasets. Changes show on the map as you make them, with no page reload. Moved from the previous version of MangoMap? See [what to check after your move](/docs/getting-started/what-to-check-after-your-move). Each change has a label: - **New**: did not exist before. - **Improved**: existed, and now does more. - **Updated**: existed, and is rebuilt on the new platform. - **Removed**: is not in the new MangoMap. ## Infrastructure - **New**: A fully serverless platform. Compute, storage, database, and sign-in all scale on demand, with no servers to provision and no capacity limits to hit. - **New**: A spatial database built for geographic data at scale. It powers map tiles, spatial queries, and analysis. - **New**: Vector tile rendering. Sharper cartography at every zoom level, smaller downloads, and crisper lines on any screen. - **New**: Maps are served from the location nearest to each viewer, so they load fast across town or across the world. ## Security and data protection - **Improved**: Every request to MangoMap is authenticated and checked against the signed-in user's permissions. Database connections are encrypted in transit. - **New**: Email change verification. A confirmation code goes to the new address before the change takes effect, so no one can change your email without access to the new address. - **Improved**: Automatic HTTPS certificates. Every map and every custom domain uses HTTPS, with no certificates for you to manage. - **Improved**: Point-in-time recovery and deletion protection on production data, with continuous backups. - **Improved**: Vector map data is sent only to viewers with permission to see it. ## Sharing and access control - **Improved**: New maps are private. Nothing is public until you publish it. - **New**: Public access, portal listing, and search engine indexing are separate settings.
